TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Yesaya 12:6

Konteks

12:6 Cry out and shout for joy, O citizens of Zion,

for the Holy One of Israel 1  acts mightily 2  among you!”

Yesaya 25:1-3

Konteks

25:1 O Lord, you are my God! 3

I will exalt you in praise, I will extol your fame. 4

For you have done extraordinary things,

and executed plans made long ago exactly as you decreed. 5

25:2 Indeed, 6  you have made the city 7  into a heap of rubble,

the fortified town into a heap of ruins;

the fortress of foreigners 8  is no longer a city,

it will never be rebuilt.

25:3 So a strong nation will extol you;

the towns of 9  powerful nations will fear you.

Yesaya 45:24-25

Konteks

45:24 they will say about me,

“Yes, the Lord is a powerful deliverer.”’” 10

All who are angry at him will cower before him. 11

45:25 All the descendants of Israel will be vindicated by the Lord

and will boast in him. 12

Yesaya 61:10-11

Konteks

61:10 I 13  will greatly rejoice 14  in the Lord;

I will be overjoyed because of my God. 15

For he clothes me in garments of deliverance;

he puts on me a robe symbolizing vindication. 16

I look like a bridegroom when he wears a turban as a priest would;

I look like a bride when she puts on her jewelry. 17

61:11 For just as the ground produces its crops

and a garden yields its produce,

so the sovereign Lord will cause deliverance 18  to grow,

and give his people reason to praise him in the sight of all the nations. 19

[12:6]  1 sn See the note on the phrase “the Holy One of Israel” in 1:4.

[12:6]  2 tn Or “is great” (TEV). However, the context emphasizes his mighty acts of deliverance (cf. NCV), not some general or vague character quality.

[25:1]  3 sn The prophet speaks here as one who has observed the coming judgment of the proud.

[25:1]  4 tn Heb “name.” See the note at 24:15.

[25:1]  5 tn Heb “plans from long ago [in] faithfulness, trustworthiness.” The feminine noun אֱמוּנָה (’emunah, “faithfulness”) and masculine noun אֹמֶן (’omen, “trustworthiness”), both of which are derived from the root אָמַן (’aman), are juxtaposed to emphasize the basic idea conveyed by the synonyms. Here they describe the absolute reliability of the divine plans.

[25:2]  6 tn Or “For” (KJV, NAB, NASB, NRSV).

[25:2]  7 tn The Hebrew text has “you have made from the city.” The prefixed mem (מ) on עִיר (’ir, “city”) was probably originally an enclitic mem suffixed to the preceding verb. See J. N. Oswalt, Isaiah (NICOT), 1:456, n. 3.

[25:2]  8 tc Some with support from the LXX emend זָרִים (zarim, “foreigners”) to זֵדִים (zedim, “the insolent”).

[25:3]  9 tn The Hebrew text has a singular form, but it should be emended to a plural or eliminated altogether. The noun may have been accidentally copied from the preceding verse.

[45:24]  10 tn Heb “‘Yes, in the Lord,’ one says about me, ‘is deliverance and strength.’”

[45:24]  11 tn Heb “will come to him and be ashamed.”

[45:25]  12 tn Heb “In the Lord all the offspring of Israel will be vindicated and boast.”

[61:10]  13 sn The speaker in vv. 10-11 is not identified, but it is likely that the personified nation (or perhaps Zion) responds here to the Lord’s promise of restoration.

[61:10]  14 tn The infinitive absolute appears before the finite verb for emphasis.

[61:10]  15 tn Heb “my being is happy in my God”; NAB “in my God is the joy of my soul.”

[61:10]  16 tn Heb “robe of vindication”; KJV, NASB, NIV, NRSV “robe of righteousness.”

[61:10]  17 tn Heb “like a bridegroom [who] acts like a priest [by wearing] a turban, and like a bride [who] wears her jewelry.” The words “I look” are supplied for stylistic reasons and clarification.

[61:11]  18 tn Or perhaps, “righteousness,” but the context seems to emphasize deliverance and restoration (see v. 10 and 62:1).

[61:11]  19 tn Heb “and praise before all the nations.”
